The War on Drugs: Coming Through

The War on Drugs is a Philly based folk rock outfit that just released their second full-length album, Future Weather, this Tuesday on Secretly Canadian (Anthony and the Johnsons, Damien Jurado, Yeasayer).  I caught them about a year ago in the basement at Union Hall and have kept tabs on them since.  There are the obvious Dylanesque comparisons – rattled vocals, literary, rhythmic wordsmithing – but TWOD is undeniably finding a new, more mature, niche among the pack of neo-psychedelic artists.  “Coming Through” may be one of the strongest tracks on the album and its a good introduction to a great new band.
