The Henry Clay People: Something in the Water

Last night, surrounded by a sea of happy undergrads and flannel watching Delta Spirit rip up Webster Hall, I couldn’t stem the feeling of nostalgia for what never was, the strangest sensation if you’re following.  That imaginary memory is somewhere in a shabby LA backyard, preferably one that contains a drained swimming pool, strings of vintage colored christmas bulbs, and kegs of rot-gut beer.  The band set up in the deep end is loud enough and rough enough to wake up the block, but sweetened by balmy air and California rock pop hooks.

Perfect band for that scene is The Henry Clay People (Autumn Tone Records).  Thankfully they are not fictitious.
