The Roadside Graves are spreading roots on both coasts. New Jersey natives, this sometimes raucous, sometimes moving folk-rock group is signed to LA’s AutumnTone Records, the influential blog Aquarium Drunkard’s micro label run by Americana guru Justin Gage. The music reflects this bi-coastal profile; you’ll hear underscores of a grittier sound found in bands like The Pogues, a London import but undeniably tied to the east-coast punk movement and NYC, and the twangs of Southern Californian surfer-rock. It’s not a surprise at all Gage found them appealing and I’m seconding his stamp of approval.
